Works On My Machine

Ah, if I only had a pound for every time I’d heard this fatal phrase. Usually employed by the plucky developer ensuring me that the software can’t possibly have a bug in it because they ran it on their machine and it worked fine.

Of course, “Works On My Machine” used to be an ad-hoc standard with no real set of rules allowing developers to be sure that they could claim this high accolade.

Fortunately, Joseph Cooney has come up with a brilliant build certification program. Jeff Atwood and Jon Galloway then provided some nice program logos. Finally, for the developer in your life whose software always comes certified as “WOMM” you can now even get a t-shirt!
