Forums?

Should I add forums to pnotepad.org? Is there need for a “community” place for PN users that is welcoming for users other than those interested in PN development? The sourceforge tracker isn’t an ideal place for support, and many people find forums less daunting to sign up for than a mailing list.

Let me know your thoughts.

  1. I would say yes. For example; of one applications that I use extensively used to (well still does) maintain a mailing list, but after a forum was introduced the amount of support, not only from the author but users as well, increased dramatically. It has become a place not only to offer support but to share tips and ideas. Even if you find that the forum in not used a lot in the beginning, in the long run you’ll find that that will be the main means of communication between yourself and the users of PN.

Isn’t a forum one of the main places people have become accustomed to looking for support first?

    Go for it.

  2. I was searching for a forum for about half an hour or so… so my answer would be: yes!

But at least I found a blog, better than nothing. I really need some support concerning “Make a filetype always use a certain scheme” (this entry exists in the build in help though its contents are simply “This documentation is still to be written, perhaps you can help?”…

I’m stuck there, could you help me please? I try to associate “.tpl” with the hypertext scheme.

My first impression on this Editor is very good, lightwight, fast and it got all I need (if the above feature is build in). Thumbs up and keep up the good work.
