Does it work on Vista?

The question on the lips of many (honest)! The answer:

Of course it does!

This screenshot shows PN 2.0.7.610 running on Windows Vista build 5728 (the most recent public release). It also runs fine on Build 5600 and previous versions of PN 2 should work fine too.

Find As You Type in IE

Just as I was thinking that the one thing I miss from Firefox when using IE7 is Find As You Type (FAYT), two plugins appear during my lunchtime browse that fit the bill:

Find As You Type for Internet Explorer 1.1 from ookii.org

Inline Search from “Core Services”

The screen capture shows the plugin from ookii.org in action, doing almost exactly what I want – I still have to press Ctrl+F to bring it up so I can’t just type but it’s close enough.

Pimp My PN

Scott’s been writing about doing it in VS.NET, Jeff Atwood’s been writing about doing it in general – it’s all the rage, pimping your IDE.

Not wanting to miss out on the fun, I quickly knocked up an altered master scheme and I’m editing in white-on-black land.

I’m also using the free Monaco font for Windows here (as linked by Scott) to get that extra “me too” that is so desirable when mimicking TextMate.

Want this look for your PN? Here you go:

Place master.scheme in your main PN schemes directory.

Place usersettings.xml in your user settings folder (normally something like c:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Echo Software\PN2).

warning: This will replace all of your customised colouring and fonts. You have been warned!

It would be nice to be able to do this without needing to replace the usersettings file as well – that should be possible with the next version of PN.
